9th leg of IAAF World Challenge in Zhukovskiy

The Zhamensky Memorial, the 9th leg of the IAAF World Challenge, will be held in Zhukovskiy in a month, on 26 June.

World athletics stars, Prize money of 200.000 USD, trials in some events for the European Championships in Barcelona, attraction for the crowd, TV broadcast make the Znamensky Memorial one of the most important athletic event of the year.

The meeting’s program includes 16 events. Women will compete in 200m, 800m, 1500m, 10000m, 100mH, long jump, shot put and hammer throw. Men’s events are 100m, 400m, 800m, 3000mSt, long jump, triple jump, high jump and javelin throw. In addition, The Russian 10000m Championships will be held at the meeting. The men’s 10000m was Znamensky brothers’ event.

The women’s hammer throw will be held as a part of the IAAF Hammer Throw Challenge. It became known, that ex-World Champion Tatyana Lysenko will compete in the event. Her rivals are Olympic and World finalist Irina Sekacheva of Ukraine and World finalist Sultana Frizell of Canada. The meeting’s organizers are waiting for other confirmation.
