Klishina surprises

Darya Klishina set in the women’s long jump a Russian junior best of 6,94m at the Russian Cup started in Yerino village of Moscow Oblast on 11 June.

The Russian Cup is being hosted for the first time on a new comfortable stadium in Yerino. A lot of high results were achieved on Day 1 despite there are not a lot of participators taking part at the Cup.

Last year’s European junior champion Darya Klishina performed good series of jumps: 6.71, 6.94 (Russian junior best), 6.53, 6.77 and 6.81. Darya improved Natalya Shevchenko’s 6.88m from 1984 by 6cm. Lyudmila Kolchanova placed second with 6.73, and Yevgeniya Frolenkova was third - 6.19.

European U23 champion Kseniya Ustalova set in the women’s 400m a European season best of 50.67sec. Kseniya Zadorina finished second with 50.98. Both set personal bests. Olseya Zykina finished third with 53.04.

Vladimir Krasnov, 19, improved his PB clocking 45.12sec (European leading). His previous PB of 45.72 was set at the Russian team championships in the end of May. Maksim Dyldin ran up with 45.81, and Vaentin Kruglyakov was 3rd – 46.03. Olympic champion Yuriy Borzakovskiy finished 4th clocking 46.32.

In the women’s 1500m, Yelena Zadorozhnaya set a Russian season leading of 4:08.01. She beat the race leader Natalya Yevdokimova with 4:08.68 at last meters.

Sergey Makarov returned after series of injuries and won the men’s javelin throw with 83.59m. Ilya Korotkov placed second with 80.27, and Aleksandr Ivanov placed third - 77.11.

Former World record holder Tatyana Lysenko won the women’s hammer throw achieving 73.60m. Oksana Kondratyeva placed second with a PB of 71.90m. The women’s hammer throw was the only one event held in Podolsk not in Yerino.
