Kirdyapkina and Yemelyanov – 2010 Russian champions

Today, the Russian Race Walking Championships started in Cheboksary, where the 2008 IAAF Race Walking Cup was held. Candidates for Russian team for the European Race Walking Championships in Barcelona will be selected at these championships.
Berlin World Championship 4th placer, World season leader (1:25.11) Anisya Kirdyapkina clocked 1:26.31 in the women’s 20km and beat Tatyana Sibileva on second (1:28.30) and Svetlana Solovyova on third (1:30.55).
Stanislav Yemelyanov won the men’s 20km clocking 1:20.48. Denis Strelkov finished second with 1:21.22, and Andrey Rusavin was third – 1:22.25.
Race walking Head Coach Aleksey Melnikov said, “The first day of the championships was gone very well including the conditions and the weather. The coach council will recommend Anisya Kirdyapkina and Stanislav Yemelyanov to include to the Russian team for Barcelona. We have already included to the team Olga Kaniskina, Vera Sokolova, Valeriy Borchin and Andrey Krivov”.
