Lebedeva jumps for fellow countrymen

Olympic champion and IAAF Golden League 2005 winner Tatyana Lebedeva hadn’t plan to compete in the long jump in this indoor season concentrating on the triple jump, but as she said she didn’t refuse her fellow countrymen and performed at the Volgograd Region Governor Cup.
Tatyana achieved a mark of 6.52 meters what is not so bad for the first meeting, but it was enough just for the second place. The winner was Olga Kucherenko, 20, who improved her personal best by 5 cm to 6.61 meters.

Another Olympic champion Yelena Slesarenko won the high jump at a high of 1.88 meters. She didn’t clear the next 1.91 meters.

The most impressive results were achieved by sprinters. Yuliya Tabakova bettered her season best by 0.01 seconds to 7.13 seconds, which she clocked in the heats, and won the event with 7.20 sec.

Natalya Ivanova won the 200 meters with 23.48, and Olesya Krasnomovets was the best in the 400 meters once again, showing her perfect form — 51.44sec.

Tatyana Pavliy won the 60mH with 8.06 seconds, and Aleksandra Antonova was the runner-up with 8.08. Igor Peremota demonstrated he will be able to compete against foreign athletes at the Russian Winter on 25 January in Moscow. Yevgeniy Borisov was second with 7.7sec.

In the men’s long jump, Vitaliy Shkurlatov achieved 7.97 meters having only one successful attempt. Pavel Sofin won the men’s shot put with 19.89 meters.
