Czechs, Swedes, Portuguese head back to top league

The three teams relegated from the 2009 SPAR European Team Championships Super League are heading back to the top league for 2011 after being promoted from the First League in Budapest, Hungary, this weekend.

Czech Republic (355.5 points), Sweden (323.5) and Portugal (295.5) claimed the three promotion spots ahead of Romania (287). Hungary beat the Netherlands for fifth spot by 0.5  points (275 to 274.5).

Belgium (259) were seventh over promoted Ireland (240.5). Turkey in ninth avoided relegation (224) as did 10th-placed Slovenia (204.5).

It was relegation for Estonia (189) and promoted Lithuania (184).

Top male marks were in the 200m in which Paul Hession clocked a European-leading 20.46 (+1.2) and it was also the fastest of the day at the distance in all four leagues.

It was the same for Daniel Kiss at the 110m hurdles, his 13.32 (+1.1) being a national record and the second best in the Europe this year.
