IAAF Council agrees plans to secure financial stability
Kiev, Ukraine - Two legends of athletics, IAAF Senior Vice President Sergey Bubka and IOC Member Valeriy Borzov, who is also president of the Ukrainian athletics federation, joined Ukraine’s Minister of Family, Youth and Sport Ravil Safiullin to welcome the IAAF Council to Kiev, the capital of Ukraine.
“It is a great pleasure and honour for Ukraine to welcome the IAAF Council members,” said Mr Safiullin, “and we are glad to be able to demonstrate the depth of affection this country has not only for sport, but specifically athletics. With so many great athletes from the past bringing credit to Ukraine, I am also glad that the future is bright. We have made sure that the stadiums used for the 2012 Euro Soccer Championships will continue to have tracks built in to their designs and Ukraine will soon make a formal bid to host the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships in the new facility that has been built in Donetsk.”
