Shobukhova wins in Chicago with Russian record

Liliya Shobukhova won the women’s race at the Chicago Marathon and set a Russian record. Mariya Konovalova finished 3rd.
Shobukhova clocked 2:20.25 bettering Galina Bogomolova’s national record by 22 seconds which was set in 2006 in Chicago too. Liliya Shobukhova won for the second year in a row. Last year she clocked 2:25.50. Her previous PB was 2:22.00, set in April in London where she won.
Mariya Konovalova surprised to finish third only 10 second after Atsede Baysa of Ethiopia (2:23:40). It was the second marathon race in Konovalova’s career. Her first race was the London marathon where she finished 16th (2:35.21). So, she improved her PB by 11 minutes 31 seconds.
Lidiya Grigoryeva didn’t finish clocking 1:28.09 at the 25km mark.
