World indoor silver medalist to try Russian Winter


2010 World indoor silver medalist Mike Rodgers has confirmed his participation at the 20th Russian Winter meeting to be held in Moscow on 6 February 2011.

Mike Rodgers has a brilliant 2010 season. He was second in the men’s 60m in Doha (6.53) after Dwain Chambers (GBR). Then, he competed successfully in Rio de Janeiro, Zhukovsky (Znamensky Memorial), Villeneuve-d-Ask, Zurich, Barcelona, Daegu, Zagreb. The Russian Winter organizers wait for Rodgers’s attack the men’s 60m course record of 6.53 by Vitaliy Savin of Kazakhstan from 1992.

The Russian Winter program consists of 13 events including:

  • men’s: 60m, 400m, 600m, 60mH, LJ, HJ;
  • women’s: 60m, 400m, 600m, 1000m, 60mH, LJ, PV.

There will be the shot put (national event), students and kids events at the Russian Winter as well. Kids will compete in events of the IAAF Kids’ Athletics program, and runners will run through snow drifts.
