Poland’s Pyrek now ready to swap her dancing shoes for spikes

It has been a busy two months for Polish pole vault star Monika Pyrek, first she won the Polish version of the popular TV programme Dancing With The Stars in November and now she has returned to serious training after a injury-enforced layoff.
Pyrek has a multitude of silver and bronze medals to her name from big athletics competitions - two World Championships silver medals including one from 2009 and she was the 2006 European Athletics Championships silver medallist – but she struck gold wither her partner Robert Rowinski on the dance floor.
In the final round, the couple performed the cha-cha, the tango and did a freestyle dance routine to clinch the victory and win a top-range Mercedes Benz car, although maybe Pyrek had a slight advantage over her opponents because, in addition to her athletic ability, she was also a good dancer as a youngster.
