Liliya Shobukhova’s Russian record

Liliya Shobukhova finished second at the London marathon and set a Russian record.

 Liliya Shobukhova ran in London for the third time and finished in the top-3. She was third in 2009, won in 2010 and finished second today to set a Russian record of 2:20:15. Liliya improved her time of 2:20:25 she set in Chicago last year.

27 runners competed in the women’s elite race, including Liliya Shobukhova, Inga Abitova (2nd in London 2010) and Mariya Konovalova (3rd in Chicago 2010).
 
Konovalova finished 10th clocking 2:25:18, Abitova placed 15th in 2:26:31.
 
In the men’s race, Russia’s Dmitriy Safronov finished 8th clocking a personal best of 2:09:35. Dmitriy tried to beat a national record of 2:09:07.
 
40000 runners competed at the 31th London marathon. The weather was +20C.
