Thorkildsen stops for two weeks

23.05.2011 World

Javelin world champion Andreas Thorkildsen must have a break from athletics for at least two weeks. Norwegian media are informing.

He pulled his groin during fifth attempt in Shanghai last Sunday at the Samsung Diamond League meeting and did not throw his last attempt. He must so cancel his participation at 50th jubilee Ostrava Golden Spike Meeting on May 31 and uncertain is also his participation at the Bislett Games at home in Oslo on June 9. “It’s a boring situation, and of course it is annoying to be injured when the season barely started. I just need to be patient and follow the medical advice I get and exercise properly to get the fastest possible return. In first place I need to be injury-free as soon as possible. But I hope I can manage until the Bislett Games,” Thorkildsen was quoted.
